Ed Grosel's Profile

Ed Grosel

It is with deep sorrow to inform you that Ed Grosel has passed away at age 87. He succumbed to a massive stroke on Friday morning. He departed Sunday, May 14th, at 1:44 AM surrounded by his family.

Ed’s passion was for his family and business. He has six children, 16 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. One of his greatest accomplishments was putting his six children through college as he had a yearning to learn. He always stressed family values and was afraid of nothing. You always knew where you stood with Ed… he was direct and to the point.

He was so direct, he quit his sales job on the spot after arguing with his boss. This is when Grosel Industrial Sales was born nearly 50 years ago. Ed also started a landscaping business in 1953, which he performed on weekends and after hours. He sold this business several years later once GIS was off and running. His commitment to the customer and principal was unparalleled. His organization, hard work, dedication and persistence made him a phenomenal salesman; his drive was second to none.

In the 70’s, he was known as “White-shoes Eddy”. Clearly, the only guy who would wear white patent leather shoes in the steel industry while selling couplings. In the 80’s and 90’s he would win countless Representative of the Year Awards. He helped distributors start their businesses and brought on complimentary lines to help grow sales. He transformed one man, out-of-garage organizations to globally recognized corporations.

After Ed retired from the business, he enjoyed his new passions; spending time with his grandchildren/ great grandchildren, traveling, and studying The Civil War. His accomplishments were many and his friends in business were even greater. He was an exceptional father and professional. He will be missed by all.
